BET Music Matters Pt 1
Last night, I had the opportunity of watching some tremendous talent with the taping of the BET Music Matters event at Santos Party House in New York City. I must say, I haven't been to a show this year that contained that much talent in one building. The lights were on the stage performers and the cameras were in full shutter as singers, MC's and bands took the stage. As a person in my position of running my own company and geared to be a resource for the majors, I'm supposed to sit in VIP and revel in all the treatment and amenities. On the contrary, I love this business so much, I sat maybe for 5 minutes before I got up and stood directly in front of the stage. Front row view like a fan. If you have never met me, you would not know what I do but my presents was felt, standing front stage. Apparently some people did recognize me and I was greeted by one of the most charismatic performers I've seen in a while "Front and Sinners" Kay'Vion. Which I hope I will see on this same platform soon. Mike Lyric happened to be in the building as well. Shout outs to him.
After a few acts crossed the stage, the energy was high, Omar Grant of BET hosting along side K-Fox from Hot 97, talked up the next artist as if to be the next one to blow up in the industry. Being on the same platform as J Cole, Miguel, and Marsha Ambrosia before their take off, Shaliek was next up. With band in place and warmed up, jamming alongside the BET DJ that was playing Whitney Houston hits thru the speakers, (Rest In Peace Whitney) the back up singers took their positions. The band began to play an original song, with the back up singers setting the foundation for the track, and all you heard was this voice from the shadows emerge into existence. With just the hum of a note, this young, swagged out, African American male was front and center on the stage. With shades on, jewelry strategically placed, and a jacket for effect, Shaliek had arrived.
Great intro right? Lol. I turned to my constituent and said, "you brought me here, and since I trust your listening ear, I came. Let's see what he's got." She responded, "get ready". I must admit, good voice, I was entertained but I wasn't wowed at first. I turned back to my constituent and said "good voice, but who do you see him taking down on the Top 40?" She responded, "I don't know. He definitely can battle a Tyrese." Ok.....but I wasn't budging either way. I studied him more and more. His image, his stage presence, his energy, as he snatched off his glasses, he threw down the pair of tinted lens Ray Bands, instantly breaking the framework. He leaped in the direction of his shades, without a care for his belongings, to rock out with the cheering spectators. He looked as if he wanted to hug each and every one of them with his words and voice. Now that's performing.
I turned back to my constituent and told her, "he's good up there but he's gotta give more, I can't see his soul yet, I need more." He must have heard me as he got to the breakdown of his bridge and let off a note I will never forget. Everyone in that room felt that. I had to take a picture to capture that moment. Wow. Even his back up singers froze and looked At him in astonishing admiration as he broke down to both knees and seemingly cried his notes into the speaker. "That's what I wanted to see" I kept saying it, over and over. "That's what I wanted to see."
My constituent smiled. She knew the boss was pleased, a job well done for Cynclair Enterprise. We'll be talking with Shaliek very soon. Let's see what the future holds.

THY APARTMENT
Please allow me to furnish your apartment and decorate your windows with wisdom
that may incase your warmth, plus,
bringing your mind to separations of emotions
locked by
every door,
anger and suffering washed away down every drain……
pipe….. more like…..
waste filtering itself from the tombs of congestion,
flushing it's hatred to an abyss of morbid confusion.
Let me choose the color of thy tiles
of gray…..
and white
glazed streaks
of modern entropy.
Chosen colors to identify with
the individuals
it sheds its brightest light upon
to allow others to recognize its
movements, within
concrete masses.
Permit me to remove sudden enlightenment
and hope
thru dreams
which misunderstood
can bring misconception, but who am I to fluff thy pillows
Who am I to make thy bed, you made it,
you sleep within it's sheets,
it's covers,
it's pages and volumes of collected movies that until this moment were only incased in thy apartment.
Though such visions are seen behind the eyes, its presents are revealed when you leave your apartment and open your eyes.
that may incase your warmth, plus,

Writings @ 2:30 in the morning.
If in any way this can make sense to you then it will be fulfilling to the cause of you understanding yourself. Days go by when we as people never stop to think about the things that make us happy. We are too quick to complain about what isn't or what is but have no determination to do anything about it, except see its altered state. If it is different, then it is not understood. If it is not understood then an interest must be created in your mind to comprehend the knowledge that IT contains. That "IT", I speak of, is YOU. The most complex, overly analyzed, emotional conglomerate known to man and better understood by the individual it is represented in. Masticate on this, and masturbate off the only purpose you have in life... To LEARN what IT (YOU) have to offer the world. BUT "what you seek most you will not find." You will continue to elude yourself if what you seek most is all about you.
